SCULPTURE ON THE GROUNDS AT THE KREEGER MUSEUM

A Collaboration between The Kreeger Museum and Washington Sculptors Group

Currently on view

Washington, DC: The Washington Sculptors Group (WSG) is pleased to announce the establishment of a collaborative initiative with the Kreeger Museum entitled “Sculpture on the Grounds.” This new invitational series will feature the work of selected WSG member artists for two years on the east lawn of the Kreeger Museum’s Sculpture Garden.

For this inaugural exhibition, artists Wendy Ross and Foon Sham were selected by co-curators Judy A. Greenberg, Director of The Kreeger Museum, and Francoise Yohalem, Public Art Consultant and WSG Advisory Board member. Biennially, the WSG will invite a guest co-curator to work with Ms. Greenberg in selecting artists for future exhibitions. This first show will be on view until indefinitely.

The “Sculpture on the Grounds” initiative provides the WSG with yet another platform for featuring the work of their members and for achieving its mission of promoting an awareness and understanding of sculpture in the DC metropolitan area. The program also complements the Kreeger’s interest in collaborating with Washington, DC-area artists through opportunities such as The Kreeger Museum Artist Award, Artist Talks and Inside the Artist’s Studio.

The next invitational will take place in Spring 2011.
